Elementary Music

As a music educator, it is my goal to instill in each child a love of music that will last a lifetime.  Not all students enjoy or excel in music, and that's okay!  I hope that those students who may not necessarily see music as a future activity in high school and/or college still find aspects of music in my class that they can succeed in.  Likewise, I hope to provide positive activities to students who do enjoy singing and/or specific instruments that will prepare them for future classes and ensembles.

Classroom objectives vary from grade to grade.  For instance, kindergarten begins with the basic rhythmic concept of the steady beat, while upper grades study specific note/rhythm names and the number of beats each receives.  All students continually practice the improvement of their singing voices.  General classroom music is very broad!  We study various concepts such as the staff, rhythm instruments, and world music.  Sixth-Eighth grade students also begin playing the recorder.  My goals and objectives for each and every class follow the standards set by state and national guidelines.
