Welcome to the Library
Where Imagination Comes to Life
Reading is a vital part of your child's education and one key to his or her future. Coming to the library is an important part of your child's week at school. Students come to the library on Tuesday for a 45 minute class. Students are encouraged to read for pleasure and to read a variety of fiction and nonfiction books. During their time in the library your child also learns about resources to use in research, the basics of research, language arts skills and some computer skills. I am at Smoky Mountain on Monday, Tuesday and every other Friday. When I am not at Smoky I am at my other school, Grassy Fork. Being at Smoky Mountain half time does not allow me to do all I would like to do in the library, and the school, for your child, the teachers and the community. Reading is such a thrill and it stretches the imagination. I love to see a child find a book that he or she really loves and enjoys reading. Seeing your child excited about a story or a series of stories is exciting to me and I encourage them to share the story with someone and get another person excited about reading. Sometimes all it takes is one story or author to light a spark in a child. Below are some internet links that I think you and your child will enjoy. Thank you, Mrs. Kinnear Library Media Specialist
