Overview
Biology is a course that introduces students to major specialty areas of biology. Students will explore the following: Comparative Anatomy and Zoology; Embryology; Genetics; Immunology; Microbiology; Botany. Course work will consist of lecture, laboratory activities, library and internet research, student presentations and dissection. In order for students to achieve in this course it is vital that they devote much time to reading the text and completing all assignments.
Materials
Textbook:
Biology by Sylvia Mader (seventh edition)
Three Ringed Notebook with paper
Blue or black pen or pencil
Poster Board (for career presentation)
Blank discs or CD (for storing research information and Power
Point presentation)
Lab Fees
Students will participate in dissection of the cat, the mammalian heart, kidney, eyeball and brain in addition to other laboratory activities. In order to have a sufficient number of specimens, students are requested to bring $22.00 each to cover the cost of specimens, shipping costs and other disposable dissecting materials. Lab fees are due August 27, 2004.
