Grassy Fork Elementary School, was built in 1963. It is located on Big Creek Road in Hartford, Tennessee, serving an average of 115 students K-8th grade. All students, with the exception of Kindergarten, are in a multi-age classroom. The teachers do an excellent job in time management and group planning. Teachers have planning time during physical education, music, art, guidance, library and computer lab, as well as before and after school. Using one-week rotations, each teacher is responsible for bus duty before and after school, with part time teachers assisting with this bus duty. The Special Education staff provides services in an inclusive model. Traditional pullout services are provided as needed to meet individual student's goals. Grassy Fork
Elementary School has designed and implemented a school wide Title I
Program since the 1998-1999 school year. In an inclusive setting,
the Title I Staff collaborates with the regular classroom teachers
to provide services in math, reading and language arts. Title I
also provides extended learning time for students needing assistance
in reaching proficiency in targeted areas. All students in
kindergarten through eighth grade are encouraged to participate in
the Accelerated Reading Program. The faculty and staff at Grassy Fork Elementary School work together to meet the needs of each individual student.
