Penalties

Find the rule you broke, then write the penalty based upon your offense!

 1. Be in your assigned seat when the bell rings.  

        PENALTY: I understand that being on time is my responsibility and that every third

             tardy equals an absence.

                    All tardies are handled by the attendance office!!!!!!

 2. Remain in the classroom throughout the class period.

     PENALTY: As attendance to class is essential to academic success, I will not ask to go    

     anywhere during class time: my locker, the restroom, the telephone, guidance, or another

     classroom.

                First offense - 20 times

                Second offense -  30 times

                Third offense -  50 times as well as receiving a tardy.

    3. Bring your own textbook(s), notebook, paper, pen, and other necessary materials

     every time our class meets.

            PENALTY: In order to be successful in the classroom, I must bring the necessary

            materials to class each time our class meets; I will bring my own textbook, notebook,

            paper, pen, and other necessary materials to class.

        If at any point in class it becomes apparent that you are not prepared:

             First offense - 25 times

             Second offense - 50 times

             Third offense -  100 times

         Further offenses may be handled by parent contact or office referral.

      

4. Take care of your work area.

       Damaging workspace requires that you either undo the damage or PAY for it AND

       write the appropriate penalty.

    PENALTY: Out of respect for myself and my school I will not write on or otherwise

    deface the desks, walls, boards, or materials on loan to me.

    First offense -   25 times

    Second offense - 50 times

    Third offense - 100 times

  Further offenses may be handled by parent contact or office referral.

 

 5. Do nothing that disrupts class. Disruptions will be handled on an individual

   basis, according to frequency and severity of disruption.

        Consequences may vary from a reminder or warning to a penalty or office referral.

 6. Treat the instructor, guests, substitute teachers, and fellow students with courtesy.     Incidences will be handled on an individual basis, according to frequency and severity. Consequences may vary from a reminder or warning to a penalty or office referral.

7. Grooming has no place in the classroom.

    PENALTY: Grooming has no place in the classroom.

    First offense -  warning

    Second offense - 50 times

    Third offense - 100 times

8. Chewable substances are prohibited in the classroom.

    PENALTY: Since chewing gum is against CCHS policy, I will not chew gum in my English

    class; I will also refrain from eating/chewing candy or straws.

    Third offense - 100 times

9. Do NOT whine!

    Violators will be summarily flogged in the school courtyard.

10. Obscenities or other use of vulgar, offensive language is prohibited.        

    PENALTY: Obscenities or other use of vulgar, offensive language is prohibited in the

    classroom.

    First offense - warning

    Second offense -  50 times.

Repeat offenders, or those who are particularly foul in their language, may receive the hospitality of the office or compose an essay on the subjects of respect and discrimination.
