Keys to Success in Room 214

In order for all learners to succeed in our classroom environment, certain understandings must be adhered to during class time. Our class will operate based upon three basic principles:

bullet

courtesy   -   Students, faculty, and any classroom guests will treat each other with respect and consideration at all times.  Manners are important:  "please,"  "thank you," and "excuse me," are useful expressions when dealing with each other.  Others are to be treated as one wishes to be treated himself.

bullet

cooperation   -   In English I we have a common goal: teacher and students alike want students to be successful; that is, to do the best they can do and to learn the most that is possible for each individual. We will work together (cooperate) to insure that this goal is accomplished.

bullet

responsibility   -   In order to accomplish our common goal, each of us will need to exhibit responsibility.  Doing what should be done when it should be done to the best of one's ability is a sure and steady way to achieve success in the classroom.  Taking responsibility for one's own learning is a mark of the maturing student.

Remembering that we are all in the classroom to achieve one goal - SUCCESS - sometimes works wonders!

If there is ever something that you do NOT understand or which needs clarification, PLEASE ASK! I have not yet mastered the ability to read minds, so unless you tell me and ask a question, I cannot help you!

If you are at home when problems occur, feel free to email me!

Parents, feel free to call the main office and leave a message with the secretary if email is not convenient. I will return your call as soon as possible.

Careful reading of materials and completion of homework is ESSENTIAL to success in our class. Skimming material briefly is not enough! We will be conducting in depth analysis of materials and completing writing assignments based upon what we read!
