As an NJROTC Cadet, you are required to know every member of the Chain of Command (COC).  It is part of being a citizen of our country – knowing who the leaders are. 

During weekly inspections, competitions, and the Annual Inspection, you will be questioned on the COC.  You will be graded on your knowledge.  Shown below is the proper method of responding to these questions.

"Cadet, who is the Chief of Naval Operations?"

  1. Response: "Sir/Ma'am, the Chief of Naval Operations is Admiral Roughead, Sir/Ma'am."

  2. Response: "Sir/Ma'am, this cadet does not know but will find out, Sir/Ma'am."

 

"Cadet, who is the senior advisor to the President on military affairs?"

  1. Response: "Sir/Ma'am, the senior advisor to the President for military affairs is the Honorable Robert Gates Sir/Ma'am."

  2. Response: "Sir/Ma'am, this cadet does not know but will find out, Sir/Ma'am."
